Newsletter Our newsletter is sent to all ALDA-GS members. Additional copies are distributed to professionals in the field of hearing loss and vocational rehabilitation to publicize our chapter and activities. We encourage members to contribute articles, stories, poems and letters. Contributions may be sent to Elinore Bullock. E-mail contributions preferred, but hard copies also welcome. Hard copies must be legibly written or typed double-spaced and sent to: Elinore Bullock, 3 Tamarack Farm Lane, Califon, NJ 07830-3415.

Scholarships ALDA-GS administers an annual scholarship program open to anyone in NJ with a hearing loss who plans to attend an institution of higher learning. This year's scholarship search is now underway. scholarship link.
Dinner and Captioned Theater Outings Members who enjoy live accessible theater are invited to join us at one of our theater outings to Paper Mill Playhouse or another accessible theater. We may meet for dinner before attending the theater.
Workshops ALDA-GS workshops have been among our most popular offerings. Past topics have included Cochlear Implants, Communications, Assertiveness training, CPR, First Aid, Deaf/Hearing Couples Issues, Coping Strategies, hospital access, telecommunications equipment and avoiding being victimized by fraud and the new CapTel telephone. In 2006, our workshop covered cell phones, new technologies in hearing loss devices, learning how to provide outreach programs through the local libraries, and Hearing Ear Dogs. Our fall workshop for 2008 will focus on court access for those who are Deaf, hard of hearing or late-deafened.
Great Adventure Discount Ticket Sales Our main fundraiser is selling tickets to Great Adventure Theme Park in Jackson, NJ. The tickets may be used any day of the season. We can always use more people to sell tickets. Contact Tony Yuppa if you’d like to help. |
